Rural communities are the heart of Minnesota, and the health care providers who serve these areas are true community heroes. On Nov. 20, Rainy Lake Medical Center (RLMC) invites the community to join in celebrating National Rural Health Day, a day dedicated to honoring the vital role rural health care plays in our region.
Why it matters
Rural health care providers often serve large geographic areas with limited resources, acting as essential health care hubs for surrounding communities. RLMC officials say they are proud to be one of these vital institutions.
How you can get involved
Community members, businesses and organizations are encouraged to participate in the celebration through simple yet meaningful gestures:
- Share RLMC’s social media posts to help spread awareness.
- Feature a local rural health care provider in your newsletter or social media.
- Host a small appreciation event for local health care workers.
- Create a gratitude wall or display in your office celebrating rural health.
- Collect and share stories from community members about their rural health care experiences.
- Donate a portion of sales to the Rainy Lake Medical Center Foundation during the week of Nov. 20.
Support the cause
Tilson Bay will offer a special storefront with Rural Health Day T-shirts available for purchase. These undated shirts can be worn year after year to show continued support for rural health care.
Even small gestures of recognition can make a big impact. RLMC welcomes collaboration and is happy to provide materials, talking points or support to help your organization become a Rural Health Day Partner.
