If you have chronic breathing issues that make it difficult to do everyday activities, we can help. Pulmonary rehabilitation is a tailored program that uses exercise and education to help people manage their chronic lung conditions and symptoms.

RLMC’s respiratory therapist will work with you to develop a personalized program using exercise, education, and behavior modifications to promote healthy lifestyle changes. Our goal is to help you reduce shortness of breath and fatigue, and increase your quality of life.

What to expect from our Respiratory Rehab Program:

  • Breathing techniques
  • Supervised exercise
  • Exercise to increase endurance and strength
  • Education on managing feelings of panic and anxiety caused by shortness of breath
  • Instruction on the proper use of supplemental oxygen
  • Techniques for secretion control
  • Information on the purpose and proper use of breathing medications
  • Support with nutrition, managing stress, saving energy, and moving smarter

Pulmonary rehab visits are twice a week for 12-18 weeks. A doctor referral is required and you will also need a pulmonary function test before starting. If you haven’t talked with your doctor about your lung health concerns and feel you may benefit from pulmonary rehab, contact your doctor’s office for an appointment.

    Jaci Klaphake is a respiratory therapist with more than 20 years of experience in respiratory care. Her late grandfather suffered from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, or COPD, and severe emphysema, which ignited her passion for respiratory therapy. Included in her services is pulmonary function testing, and pulmonary rehab, both of which help improve symptoms and reduce hospitalizations.
