No-show Policy
To ensure that medical and support staff time is best utilized to care for patients and to maintain adequate access to healthcare in the clinic by reducing no-show appointments.
A patient’s appointment status is updated to “no-show” when the patient fails to present for their scheduled appointment. Extenuating circumstances such as personal tragedy or severe weather will be taken into consideration before a no-show appointment is recorded. Notice of Rainy Lake Clinic’s no-show policy will be mailed to a patient when appropriate following an occurrence of a no-show appointment.
A patient who fails to present for his or her scheduled appointment three times or more is considered a chronic no-show. This type of patient should only be given certain appointment slots (end of the day) and may be dismissed from a provider’s practice upon discretion of said provider according to the process described in the Terminating the Provider-Patient Relationship standard operation procedure.
