Rainy Lake Clinic officials this week announced a new provider will join its specialty team.

Dr. Syed Husain, a board certified rheumatologist, will see patients at Rainy Lake Clinic beginning in April.

“We know how important it is to offer rheumatology services, and are committed to keeping our patients close to home for all of their care,” said Rainy Lake Medical Center CEO Robb Pastor. “Dr. Husain brings a lot of knowledge and experience to our campus, and we look forward to having him on our team.”

Dr. Husain specializes in inflammatory disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory back pain. He is confident in seeing all general rheumatology cases such as fibromyalgia, tendonitis, osteoporosis, soft tissue disorders, gout, joint injections, drains, and musculoskeletal pain.

Dr. Husain’s philosophy revolves around taking care of his patients as a whole rather than just focusing on the area of their care he specializes in.

“Pain is involved and (whatever they’re suffering from) is affecting them emotionally and physically,” Dr. Husain said. “I treat the patient rather than treat one particular disease, one particular organ, or one particular system.”

Dr. Husain said he values patient relationships and knows patients don’t always need treatment or medication, but rather comforting words.

Dr. Husain has more than three years of experience running a private practice, and has been an equipped hospitalist since 2013. Dr. Husain is member of American college of Rheumatology and certified in both American Board of Internal Medicine and Rheumatology.
