Rainy Lake Pharmacy customers who received letters regarding their pharmacy is no longer in business do not need to worry.
Pharmacy staff said some customers are receiving letters from their prescription insurance company saying City Drug is no longer in business and need to use a network pharmacy to cover their prescriptions. Rainy Lake Medical Center acquired City Drug on Dec. 11, 2023, and rebranded the organization to Rainy Lake Pharmacy. All services and staff have remained the same following the acquisition.
In addition, the letters do not list Rainy Lake Pharmacy as an in-network option for customers, which is incorrect. Pharmacy staff assures everyone that Rainy Lake Pharmacy still accepts all insurances it did in the past and prescription refills do not need to be transferred to another pharmacy.
“We are working to alleviate this issue and apologize for any confusion that these letters may have caused,” said Janaya Wood, RLMC director of retail pharmacy. “We value our customers and encourage them to reach out if they have any questions or concerns.”
