Outdoor play is an important occupation for children.
Play helps to support the health, development, and well-being of children. Children who spend less time outside have more difficulty concentrating. Play is a form of exercise for children and helps to aid in self-exploration and creativity. Playing outside enhances social participation and opportunities to develop friendships.
Outdoor play can also assist with gross motor, fine motor, and self-regulation skills. It is important to try to get outside every day to help reduce stress, boost your immune system, and increase attention.
Below are some examples of outdoor play activities you can complete this summer:
- Building forts
- Climbing trees
- Playing in mud
- Swinging
- Running
- Sliding
- Rolling up and down hills
